'Men in Suits' Documentary Will Explore Suit Actors From 'Creature From the Black Lagoon' to 'Pan's Labyrinth'
Aug 30th 2012, 17:00

When we think of movie stars, we tend to think of those handsome mugs that grace the covers of tabloids and the posters of summer blockbusters. But if you’ve got an affection sci-fi, horror, or fantasy, odds are some of your favorite actors don’t have such recognizable faces — because they’re under behind layers of rubber prosthetics.

Monster lover Frank H. Woodward is working on a documentary typed Men in Suits to highlight the performers behind the gorilla suits and robot costumes, like Doug Jones (Hellboy), Haruo Nakajima (Godzilla), Bobby Clark (Star Trek), and many more. As the film nears completion, they’re turning to Kickstarter for the final push to get the music and sound they need to finish up. Get more details and watch Woodward’s plea after the jump.

Not only would Men in Suits offer a better look at the men and women inside those costumes, it’d shed light on a craft that’s becoming lost “in this age of computer graphics,” as Woodward puts it. See him describe the movie in his video below:

Among the interviews featured will be:

Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth)

Tom Woodruff Jr. (the Alien fims)

Haruo Nakajima (Godzilla, Ultraman)

Bob Burns (The Ghost Busters, Invasion of the Saucer Men)

Brian Steele (Hellboy II, Predators)

Douglas Tait (Zathura, Knights of Badassdom)

John Alexander (Gorillas In The Mist, Men In Black)

Van Snowden (H.R. Pufnstuff, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters)

Misty Rosas (Congo, Sid The Science Kid)

Michelan Sisti (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dinosaurs)

Camden Toy (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel)

Bobby Clark (Star Trek)

as well as August Ragone (author of Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters), Todd Tucker (Drac Studios), Alec Gillis (ADI Effects), William Malone (director, House on Haunted Hill), and Guillermo Del Toro (director, Pan’s Labyrinth).

To give an even better idea of what the final product will look like, Woodward has also uploaded a couple of clips from his movie:
